This policy explains what information Handwriting AI collects when you use handwriting-ai.com, how we use and keep it, and how you can manage your data.
Handwriting AI and FontKind AI Chrome extensions
This policy also covers our Handwriting AI and FontKind AI Chrome extensions. This section applies specifically to the extensions; the remaining sections describe handwriting-ai.com. Both extensions are free and work without an account. They contain no analytics, advertising, AI requests or remotely loaded code.
Handwriting AI: selected text and handwritten images
The extension processes text you type, paste or explicitly send through its selection context menu. It does not read the rest of the page, page addresses or browsing history. Text and display settings are kept only in Chrome session storage so your draft remains available when you reopen the side panel. Bundled fonts and image generation run on your device. The extension writes a PNG to your clipboard only when you choose to copy the image; it never reads your clipboard. PNG downloads are created locally.
FontKind AI: local font files
The extension reads only the TTF file you choose to import. Font data, adjustments and preview text remain in memory on your device and are not uploaded or saved to extension storage. The preview and exported TTF are prepared locally. Your original file is unchanged. Display size and color affect only the preview. The extension does not request access to websites, browsing history, accounts or your clipboard.
Storage and clearing your work
Closing the Handwriting AI side panel does not erase its session draft. You can replace or erase the text in the panel; session data is cleared when the browser session ends or the extension is uninstalled. FontKind AI releases the imported font and preview text when its editor tab closes. Files you download and images you copy remain under your control on your device; the extensions do not remove them.
Data use and sharing
The extensions use locally handled content only for the editing, preview and export features you request. We do not receive, sell or share that content, use it for advertising, allow our staff to read it, or use it to assess creditworthiness or provide loans. This use complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Optional links to our websites
Website links open only when you choose them. Your text and imported font are not included in those links. The websites are separate services with their own privacy policies, accounts and paid plans. Website analytics and online AI processing do not run inside the extensions. If you contact support, we receive only the information you choose to send.
The short version
- Most text editing and standard-paper handwriting generation happen in your browser. Ordinary editor documents are not saved as complete documents to your account.
- When you save worksheets or personal fonts, or sync custom photo paper, we keep the related content so you can use it again or open it on another device.
- Image text recognition, AI font creation, AI Writer, and some photo-paper downloads send the relevant content to us or third-party services for processing.
- When you import a handwriting template, we automatically keep the original and recognition troubleshooting records for up to 30 days, even if recognition fails or you do not save the font.
- We collect usage information and may use small, processed excerpts of your content to improve the product. These limited uses also apply when the main editing and rendering happen in your browser.
- We do not sell your personal information. You can contact us to request access, corrections, or deletion.
Information we collect
Account and subscription information
When you register, we keep your email address and the account information needed for sign-in. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile, such as your name, email, and profile picture. We also keep your plan, subscription status, and usage totals to provide your plan benefits, manage limits, and handle support requests.
Payment information
Payments are handled by the service shown at checkout. We receive the transaction information needed to manage your subscription and help with payment issues, but not your full card number.
Content in the editor
Your text, inserted images, and locally used custom photo paper are saved in your current browser by default so you can continue after refreshing the page. Standard-paper handwriting generation and processing imported PDF or DOCX documents happen on your device. We do not save ordinary editor documents or original inserted images as complete content to your account. We may, however, use small, processed excerpts of your content to understand user needs and improve the product, with processing by product analytics services. When Premium members choose to sync custom photo paper, the images are saved to their account for use across devices. If you choose AI auto-fit, a smaller copy of your photo is sent to an AI service to suggest writing areas. We temporarily keep this smaller copy while your request waits or runs, then remove it once an outcome is recorded. We keep the suggested areas and credit transaction.
Saved worksheets
When you choose to save a worksheet or packet to your account, we keep its name, practice settings, and entered content, including words, sentences, or names, so you can reopen and edit it. Browser drafts and local word lists that you do not save to your account stay on your device. Saved worksheets remain until you delete them or request deletion of your account and associated data, including if you downgrade. If you include someone else’s name or personal information, make sure you have the right to store it.
Personal handwriting fonts
When you save a personal font project, we keep its name, character images, your edits, related font files, and information about the project and imports so you can refine and reuse it. When you import a template, we also automatically keep the original photo, scan, or PDF and records that help us investigate recognition problems, such as image size, whether positioning marks were recognized, and the number of characters found. These temporary copies are kept for up to 30 days, separately from saved font projects, even if recognition fails or you do not save the project. They help us troubleshoot problems and improve recognition reliability; they are not used to train AI models. You can contact us to request earlier deletion. When you use a photo to create an AI font, your confirmed crop is sent to a third-party AI service to complete your request.
Image text recognition
When you import images to recognize their text, the selected images are sent directly from your browser to a third-party text recognition service. The originals do not pass through our server. We record your account identifier, image count, and request time to manage limits, but we do not keep the original images or recognized text for this feature. Do not submit sensitive or confidential images.
AI Writer
When you use AI Writer, your instructions and any text you ask it to improve are sent to us and a third-party AI service to generate a response. Do not include passwords, sensitive personal information, or confidential material you do not have the right to share for processing.
Photo-paper downloads
When you download certain built-in photo-paper pages, the page content is sent to us to create the image you requested. Any inserted image is included in the page content processed for that download; its original file is not uploaded separately.
Usage and security information
We collect information such as pages visited, features used, device and browser type, referral source, IP address, and request time to run the service, investigate problems, prevent abuse, and improve the product. For signed-in users, some usage records are linked to the account, including email, account identifier, plan and subscription status, entry page, use case, features used, and purchase-related actions. We also use recordings of visits with private content hidden to identify usability problems. These recordings hide input values, editor text, generated handwriting images, and uploaded image previews. The analysis of small content excerpts described above is a separate form of processing.
How we use your information

- Let you reopen saved content and use features that support syncing across devices.
- Respond to support requests, investigate faults, and protect accounts.
- Understand user needs and improve features, workflows, and results.
- Send product updates, practical tips, and offers if you choose to receive them.
Third-party services
We use third-party services for some features. The information they may receive depends on the features you use and the needs of website operation and product analysis.

Third-party processing is also subject to the relevant service’s applicable terms and privacy policy.
Browser storage and cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and save drafts and some settings in your browser so you can continue your work. Product analytics services also store a visit identifier to connect activity across visits; after sign-in, this activity may be linked to your account. We also identify approximate use cases and input languages in your browser for product analysis. We do not use advertising cookies.
How long we keep data
- Account and subscription information is kept while your account is active to provide the service and manage subscriptions.
- Saved font projects, related images and font files, and worksheets remain until you delete them or request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Template originals and recognition troubleshooting records are kept for up to 30 days. You can request earlier deletion.
- Your email preference is kept while your account is active or changed at your request.
- Browser drafts and files stay in your current browser. Clearing website data or changing browsers may make them unavailable.
You choose whether to receive product emails
At registration, you can choose to receive product updates, practical tips, and offers. The option is unchecked by default. Creating an account or verifying your email does not subscribe you, and existing accounts are not enrolled automatically. We record your choice, registration method, policy version, and the time of the choice. Contact support@handwriting-ai.com to change your email preference.
Your privacy rights
Depending on the laws where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, obtain a copy of, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Email support@handwriting-ai.com to make a request.
Children’s information
The service is not directed at children under 13, or below the applicable minimum age where they live, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. When making worksheets for children, include their names or other personal details only if you have the right to store that information.
Changes to this policy
When our data practices change materially, we will update this policy and its last updated date.
